As if Port Charles doesn’t have enough politicians roaming about town. We are about to meet a new one when soap vet Daniel Cosgrove makes his General Hospital debut.
A New Friend for Drew?
Cosgrove will be playing Congressman Ezra Boyle, who forms a tepid alliance with Drew Quartermaine (Cameron Mathison). However, Ezra will be making his way around Port Charles and will also interact with Mayor Laura Collins (Genie Francis), who is a lot kinder a politician than Drew.
ABC soap fans will remember Cosgrove from his time playing Scott Chandler on All My Children where he worked with Alexa Havins, who played Babe Carey in Pine Valley but is now Lulu Spencer in Port Charles. Cosgrove also appeared on Guiding Light as legacy character Bill Lewis. On Days of our Lives, he played smarmy Aiden Jennings, who married Hope (Kristian Alfonso) under false pretenses and tried to kill her.
In recent years, Cosgrove had pretty much retired from acting and became a teacher and car salesman. Then, came a call to audition to play a recast Jack Brennan. While the role ultimately went to Chris McKenna, Cosgrove was offered the role of Ezra.
“I haven’t been auditioning,” he told TV Insider. “I took time off with the [actors’] strike [in 2023]. I got a real job, and I was kind of thinking I was out of the business. And then this just reignited something in me, such an appreciation and such an excitement and a love. I mean, I get to work hours early and I don’t want to sound corny, but each and every day is just a blessing.”
