When Jack Brennan got a change of face in February, that new face came with an American accent. Both changes were jarring for fans. However, Australian Charles Mesure decided to quit the soap at the last minute, so GH had to come up with a pinch hitter fast.
An Accent Choice for GH and McKenna

Hiring American actor Chris McKenna is not why Jack’s accent had to go. As McKenna explained it in a recent post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the American accent was a choice.
“Fun fact- I do all kinds of accents (check out my audiobooks/podcast) including Aussie (State of Affairs ep 6),” McKenna wrote. “When I was cast there was discussion about using an accent but ultimately TPTB decided to let me be me. Tho understandably jarring to the audience, it was the right choice. Forgive me, it’ll be worth it.”
So far, McKenna has slipped seamlessly into the role, American accent and all. Carly (Laura Wright), who was already married to a man with an Australian accent — who can ever forget Jasper ‘Jax’ Jacks (Ingo Rademacher), Josslyn’s (Eden McCoy) dad — doesn’t seem to have a problem with the new Jack. In fact, she is more smitten with him than ever.
A Future For Jack and Carly?

Carly and Jack’s romance seems to be well off the ground right now, with Carly choosing to be with Jack even after ingesting polonium-laced champagne meant for him. They seem like an “us against the world” type of love story, with Jason firmly against them being together. In fact, if anything ever happens to Carly again thanks to Jack, the WSB station chief better hire some guards and watch his back.
But perhaps Jack and Carly’s biggest problem is what happens when Carly learns that Jack sent her daughter off to become a WSB agent and facilitated her killing a man. Then, Hurricane Carly will be on the loose.
