And just like that, Valentin Cassadine has been carted off to a maximum security prison for a mix of crimes even he might not know the extent of, but that doesn’t mean he can’t return again one day soon.
Valiant Valentin’s In and Out of Port Charles

Since 2016, James Patrick Stuart has been a recurring GH player, never signing a contract with GH, but constantly in hot front-burner storylines. That means he is free to come and go as he pleases, and GH is free to use him whenever it sees fit. That seems to be a nice compromise for the actor who recently moved to Oregon and away from the Los Angeles hustle and bustle.
Stuart has said that he is open to another return down the line if the story and the timing work out, but he also understands why Valentin had to pay for his crimes. So, why wasn’t Valentin killed off instead of just being sent away to prison?
“I’m pretty sure it was Elizabeth [Korte, co-head writer], said in a brief conversation with me, ‘You know, you’re just too damn good to kill!’ She couldn’t bring herself to type the words!” Stuart told Soap Opera Digest. “So the fact that Valentin got arrested and sent off means there’s always a possibility of a tomorrow. But he’s got to pay something, pay some kind of debt — although it’s been brought to my attention that people in Port Charles do tend to get away with a lot of weird stuff! But I will miss the show as much as they will miss the character.”
Considering how many people Sonny has killed during his tenure in Port Charles, surely there will be a loophole that allows Valentin to be Charlotte’s Papa once again…
