Over the last few months, General Hospital’s Jason Quartermaine has undergone quite a transformation. While he looks the same and his wardrobe remains the same as it has been for the last three decades, he is not quite the Stone Cold character we have grown used to.
Sam’s Death Transforms Jason
Sam’s (Kelly Monaco) death seems to have put life in perspective for Jason (Steve Burton). His son only has him now and he is determined to be there for him. So, he moved back into the Quartermaine mansion, thrilling his poor ailing mother.
Not only that, but he told Sonny (Maurice Benard) he could not take over the business because he had to focus on Danny (Asher Antonyzyn) and not put him in danger. He knows how Sam would have hated Jason leading Sonny’s organization when his life was already dangerous enough, but that was just the tip of the iceberg.
Saying No To Sonny Again…And Yes To Tracy
When Jason told Sonny that he refused to get Wiley and Amelia and take them away from Monica (Leslie Charleson), Tracy (Jane Elliot) was floored. Sonny was so shocked that he literally had a heart attack. Tracy knew then that Alan’s (Stuart Damon) son had somehow returned to the family fold. It just took nearly 30 years for it to happen.
GH fans have wanted to see a hybrid version of Jason for years, but it would have made no sense for all those memories to return when Jason was said to be brain-damaged in 1996. Instead, GH is showing us that the old Jason Q has always been in there somewhere. He was locked away, but sometimes the people we are to our core just have to be let out and that’s what seems to be happening to Jason QuarterMorgan.
Don’t forget to watch new episodes of General Hospital each weekday on ABC and weeknight on Hulu.
