General Hospital brought the drama the week of December 30-January 3. Some moments were hits, some were misses, and Soap Talks has the rundown on what worked and what didn’t in Port Charles this past week.
Best of GH
Sonny having to face his mortality as the consequence of a lifetime of danger is genius. We have been needing a change in Sonny that could last. The Smike persona that emerged from Nixon Falls was killed a year ago when Sonny was off his meds and learned what Nina did. Maybe if he makes a change this time, it will stick.
They were simple scenes but also hilarious scenes. Alexis’ glee in watching a broke Ava beg and then being able to turn her down was glorious. Ava just wanted all that cold divorce cash she thought she was entitled to and Alexis just wanted to watch Ava squirm. We just want more Nancy Lee Grahn and Maura West in scenes together.
Valentin is back. Enough said. Valentin can’t go away again and Anna needs that man back in her life. Except this time they can’t keep lying to one another. Valentin is that suave and complicated Cassadine all GH fans need.
Worst of GH
Drew grows more creepy every day. Drew clearly sees an opening and he is going to go for it no matter who it hurts in the end. So what if he wants his nephew’s wife? So what if he brings on a political scandal? He must know that political scandals don’t matter anymore in 2025.
While Drew is creepy, Willow is just pathetic. What does she see in this man who willingly broke up her marriage and refused to leave her alone? How can she go from wanting to save her marriage to accompanying Drew to DC in a matter of two weeks? Willow probably needs therapy more than anyone else on soaps.
While we love Sasha, we really do not understand her insistence on Michael not raising his own child because he is a Corinthos. She was married to a Corinthos already and had no trouble having Sonny’s cousin’s child but she won’t have Sonny’s son’s child — or at least acknowledge her baby belongs to Sonny’s son. Make it make sense, GH.
Don’t forget to watch new episodes of General Hospital each weekday on ABC and weeknight on Hulu.
