The Young and the Restless brought the drama the week of December 23-27, 2024. Some moments were hits, some were misses, and Soap Talks has the rundown on what worked and what didn’t in Genoa City this past week.
Best of Y&R
Who else wanted to cheer when Sharon finally had enough and told Phyllis to get the heck out of her house now? Sharon is finally taking control of her life again and it’s absolutely glorious. She was not about to have Phyllis kick her around and ruin her Christmas.
Did you weep when Diane handed Kyle those pages from her journal chronicling her holiday pain each year they were apart? It was a beautiful touch after a difficult year for mother and son. Will Kyle finally learn to forgive Diane now?
Diane was on a tear this week. Not only did she make amends with Kyle, but she also made inroads with Jack’s sisters. We cheered when Traci and Ashley decided to take Diane up on her offer to buy them drinks. We also laughed because it was clear that Ashley didn’t want to be there.
Worst of Y&R
Phyllis. Always Phyllis. Nothing can change her one-track mind. She is still positive that Sharon killed Heather. At this point, we think Phyllis likes believing that Sharon killed Daniel’s true love because then she has something to lord over Sharon. It’s not like Phyllis has done 10 times worse in her life 10 times as often.
The Newman Christmas was just weird. Claire’s dress was beyond weird. Victoria’s not being there made everything awkward. Cole is a recurring player who we hadn’t seen in decades until last year. How was he more of a part of the Newman Christmas than actual Newmans?
Can Shick just get it together already? We were sure that they would kiss under he mistletoe when their girls went outside to look at the snow. Instead, they just hugged it out. Ho-hum…
Don’t forget to watch new episodes of The Young and the Restless each weekday on CBS and weeknight on Paramount +.
