The Young and the Restless brought the drama the week of January 27-31. Some moments were hits, some were misses, and we have the rundown on what worked and what didn’t in Genoa City this past week.

Could there even be a better moment than 83-year-old Victor charging out of his chair with a gunshot wound to the stomach to tackle and shoot Ian Ward? What a soap moment, folks. It just goes to show that we can do great things no matter our age, especially The Great Victor Newman. Bravo, Eric Braeden and Y&R.

Michael Baldwin was the much-needed voice of sanity and humor this week as the Newmans had quite a day and night down home on the ranch. Bravo to Christian Le Blanc, as well.

Things turned serious and emotional as Mariah recounted the horrors that Ian put her through while she was a child and young adult. She was so taken by him and hung on his every word, as cult leaders like. However, Mariah was now grown and proud of who she was and knew this vile man needed to be gone.

So Tessa left the house with hers and Mariah’s baby without leaving a note and forgot to charge BOTH her car and her cell phone just as a madman and a madwoman were terrorizing her wife’s family. WHAT?!?! Likely story, Tessa. (We believe Tessa, but this was dumb.)

Everything that took place since Claire discovered Jordan took ONE day. Yes, it was the same day for more than two weeks and all we wanted was for Nikki, Claire, and Victoria to change their clothing.

Billy and Sally stuck out like a sore thumb in the middle of all the Newman madness this week. First, they don’t belong together and second, they certainly didn’t need to be interspersed with this week’s drama for a handful of throwaway scenes that didn’t mean anything.
Don’t forget to watch new episodes of The Young and the Restless each weekday on CBS and weeknight on Paramount +.
