On the Tuesday, December 24, 2024, episode of The Young and the Restless, Phyllis spread her own brand of Christmas cheer, Diane made amends with some Abbotts, and Kyle was thrilled with his very special gift.
Sharon Has Had Enough
Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) was shocked and appalled when Sharon (Sharon Case) told her that she did not kill Heather (Vail Bloom) after all. Phyllis thought Sharon was trying to take back her story and didn’t buy the idea that there was someone else in the apartment with Sharon and Heather that night. She felt that Sharon was disrespecting Heather’s memory by making such a thing up.
Faith (Reylynn Caster) came to her mother’s defense and gave a passionate speech about why Sharon was innocent. Phyllis still didn’t buy it and even mocked Sharon until Sharon finally lost it.
She told Phyllis to get out of her home and leave her family alone. Phyllis couldn’t believe that Nick (Joshua Morrow) took Sharon’s side. After Phyllis stormed out, Faith apologized for blowing up at Phyllis but her parents weren’t angry at her at all. Nick, who understood Phyllis for years when nobody else did, felt that his ex-wife was suffering but he believed she would come around once the cops caught the real killer.
Sharon just wanted to go on with the evening and have a merry Christmas Eve with Nick and her girls. They all sat on the sofa and sang Christmas carols until they realized it was snowing outside. Then, they walked out the front door to take in a white Christmas.
Phyllis Can’t Leave Well Enough Alone
After Phyllis left Sharon’s house, she made a beeline for Daniel’s (Michael Graziadei) apartment to fill him in on what she had learned. She wondered where everyone was but Daniel told her that Summer (Allison Lanier) already left to tuck in Harrison and Lucy (Lily Brooks O’Bryant) was in bed. After Daniel chastised his mother for not trying to be cheerful to give Lucy a good holiday without her mom, Phyllis announced that she missed Christmas Eve with her family thanks to Sharon. Daniel then had to get the details.
Phyllis explained that Sharon was now taking back her story by claiming she didn’t kill Heather after all. Daniel was stunned by Phyllis’ story and baffled because Sharon did a lot of work to frame him when she didn’t even commit the crime. Phyllis was convinced Michael had made Sharon tell this new tale of someone else being there the night Heather died.
Phyllis was appalled when it appeared that Daniel was buying Sharon’s story. She told her son to stop right there. Sharon was guilty in Phyllis’ mind and she was going to prove it.
Abbott Siblings at Society
Diane (Susan Walters) convinced Traci (Beth Maitland) and Ashley (Eileen Davidson) to sit and have drinks with her at Society. Traci was all for it, but Ashley was reluctant, considering how she felt about Diane.
Diane apologized for the act that she and Jack (Peter Bergman) put on pretending they were on the outs and splitting up. She said she understood that Ashley and Traci hated seeing their brother so upset, but since it wasn’t real, it was time to let bygones be bygones, right? Ashley had a hard time letting go because she had seen Diane hurt Jack many times in the past.
The sisters also reminded Diane that it was going to take a lot for her to get into Kyle’s (Michael Mealor) good graces completely, but Diane had a plan to speed things along.
Abbott Family Cheer
Back at the Abbott mansion, Jack and Kyle spent some bonding moments on the couch where Jack told his son about his own relationship with Dina (Marla Adams). When he was a child, they were always close at Christmas and Jack thinks that’s why he got along best with her as an adult during the holidays. Jack understood Kyle’s conflicting feelings regarding Diane. Jack begged Kyle not to make the same mistakes that he did.
When Diane returned home, she told Kyle there was a CEO office waiting for him at Jabot. She also gifted him all the pages from her journal of Christmases when they were apart and she was pretending to be dead. Kyle was moved by the words Diane had written and felt bad because he hadn’t gotten Diane anything quit as special. Diane said all she needed was a hug.
After Kyle left to see Claire (Hayley Erin), Diane gave Jack a watch inscribed with the words, “My heartbeat is yours.”
