With a devastating wildfire raging through the Los Angeles area, your favorite soap stars are praying for safety. One General Hospital star even had to evacuate her home while a Young and the Restless star wondered what damage it could do to his.
Vanessa Marcil Escapes Fire
Vanessa Marcil, who played Brenda Barrett on General Hospital off and on from 1991-2013 posted several photos to her Instagram stories and detailed her evacuation tale.
“The wind is so immensely powerful, we just lost power,” she wrote in one post. “Be safe everyone. Much love to @losangelesfiredepartment @lapd and all first responders, thank you.”
“Took me three hours to get to PCH [Pacific Coast Highway] but me and the fam are safe,” Marcil posted to her Instagram stories. “TBD on the house, but it’s just stuff. Another reminder of what really matters. Thank you to everyone who checked on us and offered help. Grateful to you all.”
Marcil also posted a public service announcement advising people to take care of their pets and wild animals displaced from their homes by the flames.
“If you’re near the Palisades fire, please be mindful that wild animals are fleeing the flames and may show up in your yards,” the PSA read. “The California Board of Forestry and Fire Protection advises bringing your pets indoors at night to give wildlife a safe path to pass through. Consider leaving out buckets of water for these animals — they are scared, and exhausted, and many have lost their homes. A little kindness can help them recover and survive.”
Eric Braeden’s Chilling Video
California residents are used to wildfires, but The Young and the Restless star Eric Braeden was blown away by the extent of this one.
“Behind my house! The worst EVER in LA!,” Braeden wrote alongside a video of the fire in the hills by his home.
Fellow soap stars chimed in with well wishes, including GH’s Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos), and Y&R stars Lauralee Bell, Courtney Hope, and Melissa Ordway.
Since the fires broke out on the morning of January 7, more than 50,000 LA County residents had to be evacuated within the first 24 hours.
