General Hospital’s Jack came to Carly’s rescue in the kitchen for a semi-romantic Valentine’s evening a few weeks ago, but now we know why those scenes were a little difficult to tape.
Plumbing Problems Plague Carly

When Jack stopped by Carly’s with flowers and champagne for Valentine’s Day, Carly’s sink sprung a leak and sprayed water all over her kitchen when she went to put the flowers in a vase. That’s how we learned that Jack is just the son of a simple plumber and can fix Carly’s pipes in the blink of an eye.
Carly was so impressed by Jack’s skills that things turned romantic very quickly. Jack and Carly fell into a passionate kiss but he left before things went any further. That was the first kiss between the new Jack and Carly, as Chris McKenna had taken over the role from Charles Mesure a few weeks prior. Mesure’s Jack was there for Jack and Carly’s first official kiss in Germany.
Out of Order

When we first met McKenna’s Jack, it was just after Carly and Jack’s romantic time in Europe. They were on the plane back from Germany and then shared a few weeks of casual dates at the Brown Dog and other Port Charles haunts. However, for McKenna, Valentine’s Day was his first episode taped.
“We shot some things out of order, so the first thing we had to shoot was the Valentine’s Day episode and we immediately had to go right into the heavy romance,” McKenna said in an interview with Soap Opera Digest. “That could have been a challenge, but it was so much fun and she made it great.”
It helped that McKenna already knew Laura Wright from their time as young ABC soap stars in New York in the early 1990s.
“Laura and I have known each other for decades and it was a really, really special thing as soon as we started working together in the chemistry read,” he said. “She’s such a powerhouse — the best actress that I’ve worked with. It’s so easy and I love working with her, so that was a dream right away. I remember hearing her laugh in the chemistry read. I had not heard her laugh in 30 years, and I remembered it immediately. I was like, ‘Oh my God, Laura’s laugh! That’s right, it’s this infectious laugh that takes over the whole room!'”
